Be The Exception Counseling Foundation is an NGO with 501©3 status in the United States of America and registered in Cameroon, Central Africa. We rely on your kind donations to provide affordable, qualitative treatment to the underprivileged and low-income families in Cameroon, West Africa.

We are a recovery-focused, person-centered with a trauma informed perspective treatment center. We offer an environment that respects privacy, is therapeutic, and judgment free with exceptional treatment approaches. We are also a medical, counseling and case management residential and outpatient treatment center.

Addiction and mental health/trauma issues are diseases classified as the disease of the brain and is proven it is chronic and fatal. The situation can be rectified if confronted accordingly and properly. There is light through the tunnel and so we do not give up on the impact of our Foundation to the change the lives of those in need.

We change lives, we plant seeds, and we nourish them to re-create healthier, positive and recovery focused individuals and the general mental health wellness in our communities.

We have been offering free medical services, substance use and mental health counseling sessions for the youth population since 2016 in Cameroon, West Africa. We continuously support 7 orphanages in Cameroon West Africa.

Orphanages

Be The Exception Counseling Foundation supports authentic orphanages that genuinely care about the orphaned children in Cameroon, Central Africa, specifically the South West Region. These orphanages strive to protect the loving kindness and semblance of normalcy to orphaned children giving them a skill set and life-skills to navigate the daily challenges they face along the way as they grow.

Contributions and donations have been made in the past and Be The Exception Counseling Foundation will continuously donate to orphanages via cash, food products, clothing, books, toys, hygiene, and sanitary products.

A few of the orphanages who have benefited from the Foundation are as follows:

Great Faith Orphanage and Empowerment Center, Boana village, Limbe.
God First Orphanage, Mile 4, Limbe, Cameroon.
Rhema Grace Orphanage, Ombe, Cameroon.

Our Services

Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Disorders have increased student violence and aggression in schools. It continues to get worse, rampant, and the situation dire; our communities and children are being lost to drugs, alcohol and undiagnosed or misunderstood mental health issues and addictive behaviors, unresolved trauma, mental health issues such as Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Schizo-affective disorders, Suicidal Ideation or Behaviors, etc., and senseless deaths in schools.

This deadly disease has increased in our beloved country, Cameroon. Young lives have been lost. Crime rates have increased. All negative consequences of drug and alcohol misuse are apparent.

Our Founder

Therese M. Fuh MS, LCDC, EFT, AcuDetox Practitioner

My name is Therese M. Fuh. I am a Clinical Therapist/ Counselor living in Austin, TX. While I love what I do and I am grateful for every opportunity in my current environment, part of me felt unfulfilled, a strong desire to help my beloved native country Cameroon in my field of expertise led me to develop a deep yearning of how I could be of assistance. Research and a volunteer trip in 2016, providing free counseling services and workshops for youths suffering from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues, exposed me to the increased prevalence of substance misuse in children between the ages of 10 and 28 using illicit drugs.

I also provided family sessions to underprivileged families, especially parents of these children who misuse illicit substances, and do not have a clue on how to manage the ravaging disease. 30 children benefitted from this program, and 20 families were impacted. Certificates of completion was also given to the participants to further encourage and empower them. Realizing that, most of these families could not afford services relating to substance misuse, mental health, or anger management, I decided to launch this Foundation in 2021.
